I’m so excited to share this wedding with you today. Melissa came to me asking for lots of glitter, hot pink, and 80s themed! I jumped out of my seat and straight to my computer to make the mood board below. Melissa wanted a lot of custom pieces including LOVE balloons (inspired by my favorite Jesi Haack Design), bright tassels everywhere, and disco balls! Ariana Moshayedi did an amazing job capturing the day and Primary Petals…well just keep scrolling down because you’re gonna be blown away.
Melissa and Ryan are the sweetest couple ever. Melissa’s love for cats is unwavering (not pictured: I put two toy kittens on their place settings and she had a heart attack!) But seriously, how beautiful are these two?! They are straight out of a magazine!
Her necklace: J Crew. I kept staring at it the whole day.
The two got hitched at the Balboa Yacht Club – Melissa had grown up going there with her dad. With the club being more structured and the style of the wedding fun and spunky, I wanted to tie the two together to create something cohesive. The altar was my favorite part — Melissa requested that she wanted to see the ocean so we decided to take tassels and create a piece that had a feeling of nautical flags!
So many disco balls everywhere – we used them to make a candy station!
Okay, stop right here. Take a deep breath and look at the amazing work of Primary Petals. We hollowed out disco balls and put all the flowers in them. Insane, right?
The 80s band, Neon Nation was SO fun. They dressed and acted the part. It was a perfect day for Melissa + Ryan. I wish them nothing but joy, happiness, and a handful of cats. You can see this wedding featured on 100 Layer Cake too!
